Student Speaker: Becci Larreau

Becci Larreau

Becci Larreau of Kingston is graduating magna cum laude, completing two degrees at Western Washington University Center at Olympic College Poulsbo: a Bachelor of Science in environmental science and a Bachelor of Arts in environmental policy. She wanted to be well-grounded in both science and policy to pursue her dream of making a difference in environmental preservation, particularly in strengthening sustainable food systems.

At Western, Becci had the opportunity to travel to Europe for the first time, spending six weeks in Switzerland and Italy studying food systems with Professor Gigi Berardi. She also interned with the Kitsap Conservation District working to restore riparian habitat and presented her research at Scholars Week on the interactions between the California almond growing industry and honeybee populations.

Next, Becci hopes to build a career in environmental advocacy, focusing on sustainable agriculture and food production. Her next step is graduate school.
